Introduction
My name is Hirokazu Hirose.
I am a judo coach based in Australia,
with experience as both an elite competitor and a high-performance coach.
Competitive Background
During my competitive career, I represented Japan at the highest levels,
with results including:
- All Japan Police Judo Championship – Champion
- All Japan University Championships – Finalist
- Kodokan Cup – Top placements
- European Open competitions
I was also selected as a national-level athlete during my university years.
Coaching Philosophy
Transitioning from athlete to coach, I recognized a recurring issue:
talent alone is not enough.
Many promising athletes fail to reach their potential
due to poor foundations, unclear pathways, or short-term thinking.
My coaching philosophy is simple:
build athletes correctly, patiently, and honestly.
Development Focus
My work focuses on long-term development,
from youth fundamentals to elite competition.
This includes:
- Safe and efficient movement
- Technical precision
- Mental resilience
- Competitive readiness
I believe coaching is a responsibility —
not just to win today, but to protect the athlete’s future.
Personal Commitment
As both a coach and a parent of competitive athletes,
I understand the pressures faced by young judoka and their families.
My goal is not only to produce results,
but to contribute to the growth and credibility of Australian judo as a whole.
